The Cannes International Film Festival  is an annual film festival held in Cannes, France, which previews new films of all genres, including documentaries, from around the world. Founded in 1946, it is one of the most prestigious and publicised film festivals in the world. The invitation-only festival is held this year from 15t- 26th of may at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès.

Once a small fishing village, Cannes  is now a glamorous and expensive seaside town considered to be one of the social hubs of Europe. Its moment to shine arrives in May as the venue for the Cannes Film Festival, entertaining the rich and famous. During the festival, fans can see actors, celebrities, and directors up close and in person on the famous steps of the Palais des Festivals at the end of La Croisette.

Although its nightlife, casinos and high end restaurants give Cannes a feel of exclusivity, Cannes does have alternatives to suit all types of budgets. Tourists can check out the beauty and architecture of Le Suquet, with its cobbled streets and breathtaking views, or sit at street side tables and enjoy the favoured hobby of people watching up and down the lovely marina.

The beaches are mostly private and cost up to €30 for a day’s use (including sunbed and shade). The public beaches are crowded, and are found at the far east and west of town.

If you want a quieter beach, a better option is to go to the Îles de Lérins, see below. At night the beaches can be tranquil, but watch out for spectacular fireworks displays (see posters/ask at tourist info) in the bay, get to the beach early to get a good spot!

World famous Real Estate & Investment Visionary Thomas Kramer 56,  is planning a return to Vietnam to seek investment opportunities.

According to New Celebrity Worth , his fortune is estimated at around $ 90 million USD.

Born in Hessen (Germany,) Kramer revealed business skills at an early age. When he was 14, he began to invest his money in stock options and futures with the guidance and advise of his father, a successful stock trader.

In 1987, TK predicted one of the biggest stock market crashes of all time months before it actually happened and, thanks to his astute financial strategy, became one of the super-rich and famous overnight.

Prior to the spate of development kicked off by Kramer’s high profile investments, South Pointe was known as a high-crime poverty-stricken area. It is now a hot living destination for the wealthy. Condominium units in the upscale high rises sell for millions. There are a number of vocal critics of the developments.

He has built a series of luxury apartments. The high-rise and high density buildings many people had criticizedare derided as a “concrete jungle.” However, they also acknowledged South Pointe has become more user-friendly and safe. Previously, this area is famous poverty and crime. South Pointe also now been a regular elite.

Thomas Kramer, a US real estate mogul, has signed an agreement with the Pakistan real estate tycoon, Malik Riaz to build first ever Island City in Karachi, Pakistan named Bundal & Buddo Islands. The deal is worth US $20 billion and the project is expected to complete in a span of 5 to 10 years. While signing the deal, Thomas Kramer mentioned that he has full confidence in the economy of Pakistan and this project will also leverage the interest of other international investors in the realty sector of Pakistan.

Kramer has become known as a philanthropist in recent years. The Thomas Kramer Foundation is his main charitable vehicle. He also regularly rents out his Star Island mansion for charity events.

Thomas Kramer has been to Vietnam in September last year. He plans to come back in 6 days and visit Ho Chi Minh City, Hue, Da Nang – Hoi An, Halong Bay, Hanoi. Kramer will visit the famous places of the region, and entrepreneurs to meet Vietnam to share the investment plans and to exchange experiences.

Referring to the joint venture in Vietnam, he said, are looking for the owner may transfer the certificate of cleared land (land not in dispute) to invest. At the same time, he also wanted to get the support of a network of financial and political well to ensure success for the project.

“I want to build hotel complexes – high-rise apartment and sustainable green in Vietnam,” he said.

Kōbe is known worldwide for its Kobe beef, exquisitely marbled, very fatty and very expensive beef. Recommended for a splurge, but expect to pay close to ¥10,000 per head.

At the opposite end of the culinary spectrum is sobameshi (そば飯), a concoction of fried rice and noodles mixed together, which is cheap, filling and pretty much unique to Kobe.

Tokyo has a large number of restaurants, so see the main Japan guide for the types of food you will encounter and some popular chains. Menus are often posted outside, so you can check the prices. Some shops have the famous plastic food in their front windows. Don’t hesitate to drag the waiting staff out to the front to point at what you want. Always carry cash. Many restaurants will not accept credit cards.

Tokyo’s Chiyoda (千代田)- Ward is the center of the city and in many ways the center of all Japan. A mere 12 km² houses the Imperial Palace, the Diet, the ministries of Kasumigaseki, the corporate headquarters of Marunouchi, the controversial Yasukuni Shrine… and still has room left over for the shopping districts of Akihabara, Jimbocho and Kanda.

Vietnam’s history is one of war, colonisation and rebellion. Occupied by China no fewer than four times, the Vietnamese managed to fight off the invaders just as often. Even during the periods in history when Vietnam was independent, it was mostly a tributary state to China until the French colonisation.

The American Vietnamese war was only one of many that the Vietnamese have fought, but it was the most brutal in its history. Over two thirds of the current population was born after 1975. American tourists will receive a particularly friendly welcome in Vietnam, as many young Vietnamese aspire to American culture.

Traditional Vietnamese cooking is greatly admired for its fresh ingredients, minimal use of oil, and reliance on herbs and vegetables. With over 11.8 million people, a figure that more than doubles if you include neighboring cities and suburbs, Seoul is the largest city in South Korea and unquestionably the economic, political and cultural hub of the country. By some measures it is the second largest urban agglomeration on the planet, after Greater Tokyo.

Seoul is a verywell organized city covering over 600 km² with a population of around 11.8 million. It is a new modern city built on an ancient and shining history. The city is located in the north-western portion of South Korea approximately 40 km east of the Yellow Sea and 60 km south of the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). The city is roughly bisected by the Han River (한강 Hangang), which runs east to west across the city. Seoul blurs seamlessly into its surrounding satellite cities, most of which are also served by the Seoul metro. The largest of these is Incheon (to the west) in which Seoul’s main Airport, and the area’s main seaport, are located. Other satellite cities include such as Ilsan (to the north) and Anyang (to the south).

Located in the center of Seoul and considered a symbol of Seoul. Namsan Park is an ecology-island surrounded by urban districts. In spite of being an urban ecology-island, wild animals live in the park. Located in the middle of Seoul, the mountain filled with pine trees can be seen from almost every corner of the big city and the residents of the areas surrounding the hills enjoy the fresh mountain air.

Once the tallest tower in Asia, it has the best panoramic view in all of Seoul. Many Seoulites and visitors have visited the tower to catch a glimpse of the city’s landscape while enjoying the nature of Namsan Mountain and a host of other attractive facilities. Owing to the tower’s unique structure, the observatory section boasts spectacular views of the changing foliage throughout all seasons.

N Seoul Tower was renovated in 2005 with a newly designed high tech multimedia. The tower can be reached on foot, by taxi or, on the south side, by cable car. The cable car is available from 10AM-10:30PM and is reached by a 10 min uphill walk from Myeongdong stn, from exit 2 or 3. Centrally located, it can be seen from nearly anywhere in Seoul and is a helpful reference for visitors on foot. There’s also a Teddy Bear Museum at the tower which has lively illustrations of Korean culture. Of course all characters are Teddy Bears.

Korea’s cuisine is known the world over for being healthy and spicy. Learning how to make Korean dishes such as kimchi and bulgogi can be messy, but a lot of fun. Fortunately, there are several cooking institutes throughout Seoul catering to foreign tourists.

Visiting Namdaemun market

The largest traditional street market in Korea. This market is located in the center of Seoul and is a famous shopping place for tourists. Clothing for children and accessories are the most-commonly sold goods in this market, but there’s lots of food as well and many outdoor eating options, especially in the evening. There is also a huge digital camera market in this area.

The climb to Victoria Peak

Victoria Peak is a mountain known as Mount Austin, and locally as The Peak, is located in the western half of hong Kong Island With an altitude of 552 m (1,811 ft).

With some seven million visitors every year, the Peak is the biggest tourist attraction in Hong Kong. It offers spectacular views of the city and harbours. The number of visitors has resulting in the building of two major leisure and shopping centres, the Peak Tower and the Peak Galleria, situated adjacent to each other at Victoria Gap.

The Peak Tower incorporates the upper station of the Peak Tram funicular railway that brings passengers up from Central district, whilst the Peak Galleria incorporates the bus station used by the public bus and green minibus services to the Peak. The Peak is also accessible by taxi and private car via the circuitous Peak Road, or by walking up the steep Old Peak Road from the mid-levels starting near the Zoological Botanical Gardens.

Victoria Peak Garden is located on the site of Mountain Lodge, the Governor’s old summer residence, and is the closest publicly accessible point to the summit. It can be reached from Victoria Gap by walking up Mount Austin Road, a climb of about 150 metres. Another popular walk is the level loop is along Lugard Road, giving good views of Central district and Kowloon, and then returning via Harlech Road, encircling the summit at the level of the Peak Tower.

There are several restaurants on Victoria Peak. Most of them are located in the shopping complexes, the Peak Tower and the Peak Galleria. However one of the most famous, the Peak Lookout Restaurant, is housed in an older and more traditional building. Originally a rooming house for engineers working on the Peak Tramway, it was rebuilt in 1901 as a stop area for private or public sedan chairs, and opened as a restaurant in 1947.

The Pavilion and Findlay Road provide excellent viewpoints and photo opportunities. Also along Findlay Road are photographers and vendors offering paintings and souvenirs and quite often one of the few remaining rickshaw pullers touts for business although don’t expect anything more than a trip of a few metres and a photo.

Aberdeen is a town of approximately 60,000 people on the south side of Hong Kong Island. The town’s most famous feature is Aberdeen Harbour, which lies between Aberdeen and the island Ap Lei Chau. The original Chinese settlement on this harbour was named Hong Kong, and when British seafarers landed here in the 19th century they mistook the name of the village for the name of the entire island.

The settlement was subsequently renamed Aberdeen after George Hamilton Gordon, the 4th Earl of Aberdeen (Scotland) and the then-current British Secretary of State for War and the Colonies. Keen videogamers may recognise Aberdeen as the setting for the Sega Dreamcast game Shenmue II. Scenes from the Bruce Lee film Enter the Dragon were shot in Aberdeen Harbour.

 Here you will find extravagant homes with spectacular views over the largest sea in the world.

Visitors to Hong Kong should come south for the excellent beach resorts, theme park and some very good dinning opportunities. On a sunny day, the south-side is a welcome escape from city life and ought to be a compulsory part of your agenda when travelling in Hong Kong.

Many tours through Thonburi’s backwaters include a visit to the so-called Thonburi Snake Farm. Besides a snake show performance, it is also a small zoo with a number of animals kept in cages for the purpose of entertaining tourists. Any animal lover or consciencious visitor can see that the animals in this snake farm live in very bad conditions. There is no information about the animals, their sole purposeis to entertainment. If you don’t want to visit the farm for these reasons, make sure you book a canal tour that does not include the farm. Or  alternatively, visit the animal friendly Queen Saovabha Institute Snake Farm in Silom.

There are no signs to inform the visitor, as the animals are only meant for the sole purpose of entertainment!

One of the best ways to explore Bangkok is by boat. A cruise along the Chao Phraya River and the canals of Thonburi on the west side of the river reveal scenes at odds with the bustling, modern inner city.

The trip passes the Royal Barges Museum, housing the eight elaborately decked longboats used in the highly ceremonial and rare Royal Barge Procession. With the combined tour, experience the above plus a trip to the Grand Palace, which reveals the splendour of early Rattanakosin architecture as well as Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew).

Thonburi is a vast district, and getting around it is not easy. The area can hardly be explored on foot

It’s worth giving the Grand Palace and Wat Pho together a full day since the heat and glare are very wearing and there is a lot to take in.

A trip to Bangkok is not complete without a visit to some of Rattanakosin‘s prime sights. Bangkok counts hundreds of Buddhist temples, known in Thai as “wats”, with the most important ones in Rattanakosin. Temples are an essential part of the daily life of most Thais. Most of them have impressive architecture and much devotion has been given to the decoration. Every temple is unique — some of them are beautifully decorated with thousands of coloured glass pieces, while others portray massive Buddha statues of pure gold.
